ISLAMABAD: The Metrological Department of Pakistan has said that the aftershocks of the October 8 earthquake are likely to continue in November.
The department recorded 1,231 aftershocks until November 8, one month after the earthquake in Kashmir and NWFP killed 73,000 people and left three million homeless.
“Out of these, only two had a 6.0 or greater magnitude on the Richter scale, 26 were 5.0 or more while the remaining 1,203 were between 4.0 and 4.9,” Muhammad Salim, a Peshawar Metrological Department official said on Tuesday.
The aftershocks continue to haunt people in the NWFP, Kashmir, Rawalpindi and Islamabad, according to the Metrological Department. The department has also forecast early snowfall and rains in the earthquake-affected areas.
